Greets from STL

Having a great time. Hangin' out with the boyz, playing a lot of Rock Band/Guitar Hero WT. Finally am getting passable at the hard level. What a struggle to get there. Tomorrow having lunch with some family members. Not sure what else. Thank you Fabrice for watching my cats :)

This quick story

made me laugh pretty good so I thought I would share:

When Your Credit Card Signature Fun Backfires

NSFW applies I guess, but you'd probably get more weird stares than in trouble.

Everything is Overrated

Watched the movie "Bolt" last night,... had a good time with it. I would have probably passed on it but a co-worker of mine had told me how sharp the visuals were, and that it was worth a watch. I completely concur, and without going into a rant on the wholesome messages conveyed so well by the flick, I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good way to spend 90 minutes.

So now Bolt is added to my FTP site. Also on the site is a copy of Slumdog Millionaire, which Fabrice has expressed interest in. I haven't watched it yet, so no spoilers please. And while talking FTP there is also a copy of the Freddi Fish series of games which my young nephew has taken an interest in, and so any of you with little ones that might like a fish game, dig-in.

4 Days until I'm in The Lou and I can't wait. 10 days in town will make it my longest trip to date, and its nice to not have to cram everything in. I was toying with the idea of having some kind of big shin-dig, perhaps a Dave and Busters Power Hour or something, but I'm not sure it's going to come together. Lots of people I would like to hang out with in St. Louis, but not a whole lot planned so I think a lot of stuff will be impromptu but some of the best things start that way.

Lastly, my blogging idol Dan Rutter from dansdata.com put up some videos of a hillarious entertainer from Austrailia named Tim Minchin, so I got some material of his and had a blast listening to his CD. Favorite track is Fat Children. Give it a listen.

Update for my loyal readers

Well not a whole lot exciting has been happening out here, thus no updates from me lately. But a few small things worth noting:

-Congrats to my very good friends Josh and Elaina on the birth of their beautiful daughter Chelsea. For pictures see their blog in the top right hand corner of mine.

-Been continuing to do a lot of work on my home computers. I installed Windows 7 Beta on my computer that is connected to my TV and so far it looks very awesome. I can remote control my TV with an application on my iPhone, so its all touch screen and such.

-Did a new install of Windows XP on a machine that came home from work with me one day. Moved a lot of music and videos to it, and it will soon be on its way to Chrys so that she has some type of computer and doesn't lose all of the songs and pictures and everything she had accumulated.

-I am having a problem with the network connection on my main PC. Transferring files over my home network from or to this computer is deadly slow. Unfortunately the network adapter on this box is part of the motherboard so I may be looking for a new MB. Dunno yet, got a Network Card from work today, I'll install it tonight and see if that improves the situation.

-FTP site is on hold for now. All the issues I'm working on right now need to be resolved before I can get it back up the way I want it. It is available if I need it to host a file for someone, but is mostly down right now.

-Battlestar Galactica is really really got me right now. They are winding down the series and it is amazing the way they are taking it. House also is having an excellent season IMO.

-Looking forward to my trip back to St. Louis. The last weekend I am in town is Mardi Gras weekend so I'm looking for someone who feels like checking it out this year. And unless things change I'll still be a non-drinker so I'm avail for driving.

-Musically I've been listening to a lot of Ska/Punk stuff. Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Gogol Bordello (still). The new Busta Rhymes album is pretty damn good too.

An awesome article on one of the greats...

...done by Wired. It does me good to know that the magizine/web presence is still putting out dope ass reporting.

Regarding the subject of the article, I can say he is the only artist I can think of whom I've never heard anyone say "I don't like him". He is timeless and a wonderful person. I got sad when I had read on fark.com that his parents had passed. And I just downloaded a new release from him on iTunes for 99cents that was damn good. I can't listen to it just once, I have to play it again after the first time. Anyways, without further yammering,

My Man

Ok back to the yammering. Thinking back to the times when Al's videos were on MTV, when they still played music (dating myself), when I was but a wee lad my parents let me have my very own VCR tape (VCRs were kinda new still), and I could record whatever videos I wanted from MTV onto it (oh joyous rapture to a 11-12 y/o). Did you guys have your own VCR tape that you would record your stuff on? What kind of stuff did you keep on "your tape"? I can remember having a lot of hair bands like (gulp) Warrant and Firehouse,... whatelse... drawing a blank. Probably for the best after that start... Maybe some cartoons of some sort... oh I remember I had Billy Joel Piano Man on there (good save memory)....
